Quran Shakir

Qur'an Shakir, known as Madame Q, is an educator and community leader who has been instrumental in building Clara Mohammed and W.D. Mohammed schools in Atlanta since the 1960s. Initially a student at the University of Islam, she transitioned to teaching English and eventually served as principal-director of the school for four years. She pioneered accreditation efforts, becoming the first Islamic school in the country to achieve both Georgia and national accreditation. Throughout her career in Islamic education, she has emphasized Quranic principles with practical real-world application, implementing programs including athletics, mock trial, and interfaith engagement. She continues to serve on the school's board and as an educator training teachers.
