Safiyyah Shahid

Safiyyah Shahid is an educator who has dedicated nearly four decades to Clara Mohammed Schools in Atlanta. She joined the Nation of Islam in the late 1960s and became a captain in the Muslim Girls Training program before transitioning to education. She joined Mohammed Schools as a third-grade teacher in 1986, was promoted to principal in 1989, and continues to teach fourth grade today. She has been instrumental in advancing school accreditation efforts and professional development, and takes pride in seeing former students return as parents and leaders in the community.
