Sister Saffiya Mohammed Rahmah 

Born in 1952 at her grandfather Elijah Muhammad's house on South Woodlawn, Sister Saffiya is the daughter of Shepherd Herbert Muhammad and granddaughter of Elijah and Clara Muhammad. She began her education at the University of Islam at age 4.5 and remained engaged with the institution throughout her formative years, growing up in an environment saturated with emphasis on academic rigor, Islamic teachings, and refined personal discipline. Her childhood was profoundly shaped by her grandmother Clara Muhammad's model of excellence in every aspect of life, from education and household management to humanitarian service and personal conduct. Now a teacher herself, Sister Saffiya continues her family's educational legacy by applying the principles of structured learning, cultural pride, and deep Islamic knowledge that defined her own education. Her teaching reflects her grandmother's philosophy that education is a way of life, modeling for students the integration of academic achievement with exemplary character and service to community.
